How To Create an Easy Container Water Feature

Hey everybody, it's Scott Rhodes here, proud member of Aquascape Pond Squad and also known as The Product Guy. Today, I'm gonna show you how easy it is to install an Aquascape Patio Pond.

The cool thing about the patio pond is it allows anyone to have a complete water garden in almost any setting. Creating a beautifully planted water bowl or container water garden has never been easier. Aquascape Aquatic Patio Pond has all the natural beauty of real stone with the added durability of fiberglass. The first step is to rinse down the Aquatic Patio Pond with your garden hose and remove any leftover debris from the manufacturing process.

Continue to fill the container with water until it reaches the bottom of the upper rim, and be sure to use water conditioner like Aquascape Pond Detoxifier before adding fish or plants. If you're using a garden hose to fill your Aquatic Patio Pond, you want to be sure and run the hose for a few minutes to flush the hose of any stagnant or nasty water. If you intend to add a few small fish we recommend the use of an Aquascape Container Water Garden Filter or the Aquascape Pond Filter Urn. A convenient notch in the back of the Patio Pond is available for electrical port placement. It's always a good idea to add a decorative element for the trickling sound of water.

Aquascape has several ornaments to choose from that include a pump and tubing. Installing a few underwater LED lights throughout the Patio Pond makes it possible to enjoy your water feature into the evening hours. Strategically place the lights to accent the features and use small stones to lock them in place. For best results when adding plants, prepare them with aquatic plants soil and fertilizer.

A waterlily is the perfect plant for a Patio Pond. The round portion in the middle of the bowl is ideal for a waterlily or one super-tall plant that can be used as a focal point. Continue to place marginal plants along the integrated shelf and top it off with a few floating plants like water hyacinth or water lettuce. Add rock and gravel to help naturalize the feature, and a few small fish for color and movement. Two or three small goldfish or rosy reds ought to do. We do not recommend adding Koi to the Aquascape Patio Pond. Acclimate the fish for 10 to 15 minutes before gently releasing them into their new habitat.

The use of Aquascape Bubble Tabs will optimize water quality and reduce maintenance. As a general rule, we recommend a 15% water change weekly to help optimize water quality. Please remember, adding water due to evaporation does not count as a water change.

Finally, a solution for transforming small outdoor spaces. The Aquascape Patio Pond is a great way to get your feet wet and live the water gardening lifestyle.
